Halloween Cookies

Recipe Ingredients

1/2 cup(s) , Shortning
1 3/4 cup(s) , Sugar
1 large , Egg
3 cup(s) , Flour
1/4 teaspoon(s) , Salt
3 teaspoon(s) , Baking Powder
1/2 cup(s) , Milk
1/2 teaspoon(s) , Vanilla Extract
1/4 cup(s) , Water
2 large , Egg Whites Stifly Beaten
1/2 tablespoon(s) , Orange Juice

Cooking Procedures

Thoroughly cream shortening and 1 cup of sugar; add egg and beat well. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk and vanilla; mix thoroughly. Roll 1/2 inch thich on lightly floured surface. Cut with floured halloween cookie cutters. Bake on greased cookie sheet in moderate oven (375) about 15 minutes.

wash. Chop jthe other ingredients fine. Cover all with water and boil -three hours. Mrs. Switzer. STEWED LENTILS J 1 cup lentils. 1 tsp. salt. 1 tblsp. butter substitute. 1 salt spoon pepper. Wash half pint of lentils. Cover with cold water and soak jr night. Next morning cover with fresh boiling water and 1 cook slwly one hour. Drain; return them to the kettle; add [butter substitute, salt and pepper; shake for a moment until 'thoroughly hot, and serve. Mrs. Rorer. 1 small onion.
